Ambition to make the new factory carbon neutral from the start
Paulig has set itself the ambitious goal of being a sustainable frontrunner in the food & beverage industry. “In this new factory, we can integrate the best practices from our existing plants to maximize energy efficiency and minimize the climate impacts. The location of the factory also allows to optimize the logistics flows and reduce transportation needed. The production facility will be connected with a bridge to the adjacent distribution center, thus eliminating the on-road transportation need for warehousing purposes”, says Thomas Panteli, SVP Supply Chain and Sourcing at Paulig.
Paulig is planning to make all ten of its existing factories in six countries carbon neutral by 2023. In Finland, the Paulig coffee roastery in Vuosaari and Gold&Green Foods factory in Järvenpää have already achieved the CarbonNeutral® building certification, just like the Molndal and Landskrona factories in Sweden which produce Santa Maria spices and tortilla bread and Risenta muesli. Paulig plans to make the new Belgian production plant carbon neutral from the start as the work to make the other existing factories carbon neutral continues.
