6.10.2025 Press release
Paulig, the international food and beverage company, is advancing its ambitious sustainability agenda by introducing electric trucks in Belgium. The company is also joining a fully automated warehouse in Roeselare, operated by its logistics partner EUTRACO. By electrifying part of its transport operations in Belgium, Paulig estimates it will reduce emissions in its value chain by around 100 tonnes of CO₂ annually. In addition, it will use part of the storage capacity at EUTRACO’s Roeselare warehouse, ensuring that all external storage capacity is located just 6 km from the production site.

“The introduction of electric trucks and the move to a nearby automated warehouse mark important milestones for Paulig’s operations in Roeselare. We produce 6 million tortilla wraps and 1 million tortilla chips bags every day, making logistics an important element in reducing emissions. Paulig’s ambition is to cut emissions in our value chain by 50% by 2030, and 4% of those emissions come from logistics. These initiatives with our logistics partner EUTRACO reinforce our commitment to sustainability while supporting our long-term growth strategy,” says Kaisa Lipponen, Senior Vice-President Sustainability, HSE & Communications and Managing Director of Paulig Belgium.

“This is just the beginning measures we want to implement in Belgium and in every country where we operate. In Sweden, we switched to electric trucks in 2024, and, in the long term, we want to electrify all short-distance transport,” says Kaisa Lipponen, SVP Sustainability, HSE & Communications Managing Director Paulig Belgium.

Strengthening growth through smart logistics

Paulig is also taking action in the product storage space. Since September 2025, the company has been centralizing its tortilla wraps, tortilla chips, packaging materials and raw materials in EUTRACO’s new automated warehouse in Roeselare. Until now, part of the storage capacity was based in Ghent. The Roeselare warehouse is a state-of-the-art distribution center with an operational area of 21,650 m² – almost three times the size of an average football field.

“Our strategy is built on sustainability and growth. We are expanding in existing segments, such as Tex Mex and Asian cuisine, as well as through acquisitions. To support this growth, external storage space is crucial. Back in 2018, we already started using our own high-bay warehouse with a capacity of 42,000 pallets. Now we are adding more capacity in collaboration with EUTRACO. The distance between our production site and storage facilities has also been drastically reduced, from 80 km to 6 km. This further boosts our efficiency,” concludes Jan Callewaert, Warehouse Manager at Paulig Belgium.

“Our collaboration with Paulig is an important step in realizing our ambition to be fully climate-neutral in both transport and logistics by 2035. The e-trucks for Paulig are part of a fleet of 54 that we will deploy for regional distribution and fixed customer routes. Thanks to partnerships like this, we are building an innovative and sustainable future together,” adds Serge Gregoir, CEO of EUTRACO.
