18.11.2021 Press release
Cooperation with UNICEF is one way for Gold&Green Foods to contribute to building a healthier tomorrow for people and the planet. The three-year partnership continues and will be seen in Pulled Oats[®] Tomato products this winter. The cooperation supports UNICEF’s work for the most vulnerable children and increases awareness of the significance of nutrition in the development of children and adolescents, and educates people about the environmental impacts of our food-related choices.

There are still many children around the world severely affected by poverty, discrimination and lack of education. In addition to persistent challenges related to health, nutrition and education, various threats, including climate change, cast a shadow over children’s future. According to a report released by UNICEF, almost half of the world’s 2.2 billion children are living in countries that face an extremely high risk of climate change impacts and other environmental crises. The damage caused by the climate crisis is unbalanced: where people are most affected by the climate crisis and environmental degradation, the emissions currently generated are the lowest.

“The climate crisis is also a crisis in children’s rights, and the most vulnerable children are most affected. It is extremely difficult for children to grow and reach their full potential in the midst of a climate crisis, if they simultaneously have no access to fundamental health care services and good-quality nutrition, and lack the possibility to attend school,” says Outi Mikkonen, Director, Corporate Collaboration at UNICEF Finland.

Gold&Green Foods and UNICEF invite everyone to change the world one meal at a time

“It is important for us to participate actively in building a better future, and we invite everyone in Finland to join us in changing the world one meal at a time. For an individual consumer, food is one of the most powerful ways to influence personal and planet’s well-being, and that is why we want to participate in offering people delicious and sustainable alternatives in their food choices. The cooperation with UNICEF Finland is one of the ways for our company to influence the world we leave for our children,” says Maija Itkonen, co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer at Gold&Green Foods.

Gold&Green Foods and UNICEF Finland have signed a three-year partnership agreement for 2020–2022. The cooperation with UNICEF will be seen in Pulled Oats® Tomato products this winter when 20 cents for every Pulled Oats® Tomato product package sold will be donated to UNICEF’s work for the most vulnerable children. The packages included in the campaign carry the G&G for UNICEF logo.
